Five foreign based players among Austrian based duo of midfielder Enock Mwepu and striker Patson Daka have joined the Chipolopolo Boys ahead of Thursday’s Cameroon 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria.
Poland based winger Lubambo Musonda also jetted in alongside Mwepu and Daka, who both ply their trade at Red Bull Salzburg.
South African based duo of Roderick Kabwe and Augustine Mulenga also landed yesterday to complete the list of foreign based players summoned by coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.
Kabwe and Mulenga features for Black Leopards and AmaZulu respectively.
All the five players joined camp on Monday.
Mwepu said in an interview at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport that the game against Algeria is crucial hence the team should be aggressive and show good character on Thursday night.
Mwepu said the team should work together and he will give in all his best as they face Algeria.
“First of all I am happy that we are here, this is the most important thing. We thank God for the travelling mercies. We all know that everybody is looking forward to the Thursday game. This is a game that has everything, if we win this game then we have a chance to pour out everything in the last game.
“All we need is everybody to show character, everybody to be aggressive and know that this is all we have. If we lose then it’s nothing for us, it’s done,” he said.
Mwepu urged his team mates to work together and help each other on the field in order to carry the day.
“My appeal to the guys is we play together, play compact, help each other in the field and just show good character and have right mentality in this game,” he said.
Mwepu also urged the fans to rally behind the team as they face Algeria at National Heroes Stadium.
“I have come in the team and proved that they need me. For me what is important is to give my best and the fans have to see and value themselves how much ii play. For me it’s just to play on Thursday and win these two games. They just need to support us. We know we haven’t Played so well in the previous games but we need them, without them we are lost. We just need their prayers and support,” he said.
The other foreign based players in camp are Cletus Chama and Larry Bwalya both of Simba, Nathan Sinkala (Stellenbosch, South Africa), TP Mazembe duo of Kabaso Chongo and Tandi Mwape, Gampani Lungu of South African side SuperSport United and goalkeeper Mwenya Chibwe of Polokwane in South Africa.
Belgium based Fashion Sakala, Salaulani Phiri of Polokwane, Evans Kangwa and Kings Kangwa both of Arsenal Tula in Russia has been dropped.
