Simba duo of midfielders Cletus Chama and Larry Bwalya have become the first foreign based players to join the Chipolopolo Boys ahead of next Thursday’ Cameroon 2022 Africa of Nations qualifier against Algeria.
The duo joined the locally based players in camp on Thursday afternoon.
Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic dropped Chama unceremoniously for the back-to-back clashes against Botswana in November last year after the playmaker missed a flight to Zambia from Dar es Salaam.
Chama said in an interview upon arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport said that he is thankful for being given an opportunity to be part of the squad that will be playing reigning champions Algeria and Zimbabwe on March 30.
“I am privileged to given an opportunity to be part of the team. The games will be crucial but nothing is impossible. We have come to work and we are looking to make our nation happy,” said Chama, who is one of the key players at the Tanzanian outfit.
The former Zesco United and Lusaka Dynamos midfielder has pledged to put in his best during the two encounters.
“We have to be united and focused. I have played with most players at national level so this it’s a good advantage for all of us as a team and once we coordinate we will have better chances,” he said.
Chama and Bwalya will be among the contenders to start Monday’s International friendly against Sierra Leone at National Heroes Stadium.
Zambia will host Algeria on March 25 before traveling to Zimbabwe for the final group fixtures against the Warriors of Zimbabwe.
Other foreign based players summoned for the two matches are expected to start trooping in this weekend after featuring for their respective clubs.
Red Bull Salzburg duo of striker Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu are among the foreign contingent expected to arrive before Tuesday.
