Kalifungwa to challenge Edgar Lungu at PF convention

Kitwe based businessman Makesa Kalifungwa will challenge President Edgar Lungu at the PF convention scheduled for next month.

Mr Kalifungwa 48, a proprietor of Golden Beg Emerald Miner in Lufwanyama says he would contest for the position of PF Presidency at the PF convention because it is his constitutional right.

Speaking in an interview with The Independent Observer, Mr Kalifungwa, a banker said that no one should be barred from contesting the position.

He said that he is eligible to contest for presidency as he has been a member of the party for over 11 years.

Mr Kalifungwa said he joined the party in 2011 and has never held any position in the party and opts to contest for top job so that he can deliver.

He said he wants to bring fresh breath to the party and also to address the high cost of living.

Mr Kalifungwa who has worked for Meridian Bank and Stanbic Bank, wants to implement pro-poor policies and offer service to the people.

He said his focus strategies are on promoting growth and later bring development because there is no development minus growth.

Mr Kalifungwa is scheduled to file in his application this coming Saturday and he is confident that he has support within the party to make achieve his mission.
