Zambia Under-17 coach hails Morocco friendly

Zambia Under-17 coach George Chilufya has hailed the international friendly his team played against Morocco on Thursday after the cancellation of the 2021 Africa Cup.

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) was this week forced to cancel the 2021 Junior AFCON that Morocco was due to host from March 13-31.

Speaking after Zambia drew 1-1 with Morocco in friendly on Thursday, Chilufya said his team is going back home with heads high after the practice match.

“How I wish it was the real competition game however I think we saw what we wanted. The boys applied themselves the way we expected them to do,” he said.

“I think their confidence is now back having tested this international friendly against a very good and well organised side. I think our boys are going home with their heads high and with high confidence levels.”

Chilufya is hoping the cancelled Under-17 AFCON will be re-organised soon.

“Hopefully the AFCON is coming back soon,” Chilufya said.

Zambia, who arrived in Morocco, last Friday, will return home this weekend.
