Chiefs in Mpongwe South have thanked President Edgar Lungu for delivering development to all parts of the country.
Speaking on behalf of Machiya, Mwinuna and Ndubeni Chiefdoms, Chief Machiya said the three Chiefdoms had not been left behind in terms of development.
Chief Machiya said that Infrastructure development such as Health Facilities being constructed by the Government would improve the quality of lives of the subjects in Machiya, Mwinuna and Ndubeni chiefdoms.
The Chief said this when Minister of Health, Jonas Chanda officiated at the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the upgrading of Munkumpu Health Centre into a Mini Hospital.
Chief Machiya also said that the construction of the hospital would not benefit many people from Mpongwe South, but also those from Lufwanyama District.
Chief Machiya said the people in the 3 chiefdoms were covering about 70 kilometers to access the nearest health services in Mpongwe Town, adding that the construction of the Munkumpu Mini Hospital would go a long way in addressing the challenge.
And Dr Chanda said President Edgar Lungu does not segregate where to take development.
Dr Chanda who was in the company of Luanshya Mayor, Nathan Chanda and Copperbelt Permanent Secretary, Bright Nundwe also officiated at the Ground Breaking ceremonies for the upgrading of Mpatamatu and Maposa clinics to Mini Hospitals.
The Health Minister reiterated Government’s commitment to ensuring Universal Health Coverage by bringing health services closer to the people.
Government has allocated 16 Health Facilities on the Copperbelt from the 115 Mini – Hospitals and 5 Level 1 Hospitals being constructed across the country.
The project is being supported by the United Kingdom Export Finance at a total cost of USD 300 million.
