Kalulushi Municipal Council has completed the construction of toilets at Nsokoloko Market in South Kalengwa at a cost K144, 783. 30.

Kalulushi Deputy Mayor Paul Chivundu said the market has never had a toilet since it was constructed.

Mr Chivunda said the market has been operating without an ablution block which is not conducive for traders.

He said the construction of the ablution block which was funded by the Ward Development Fund (CDF) has brought relief to the marketeers who were using nearby ablution blocks to relief themselves.

Mr Chivunda said the Council has realized the importance of sanitation in public places especially the market.

He said it is cardinal during this period of Covid-19 for the marketeers to have proper toilets and running water to control other hygiene related infections.

“We are happy that the marketeers have the ablution block within the vicinity unlike those times where they had nowhere to go instead they would seek help in the nearby houses,” he said.
