Tourism and Arts Permanent Secretary (PS) Patrick Lungu has called on human resource practitioners under his charge to be the embodiment of mind-set change transformation agenda in the Ministry.
Speaking during the official opening of the workshop for human resource practitioners held at Ndozo Lodge, Chilanga, the PS Lungu said he is convinced that successful implementation of its mandate is unattainable without effective mind-set change, disciplined staff and Professionalism.
He said mind-set change requires strict adherence to the provisions of the code of ethics for the public service workers, hard work, integrity, honesty and zero tolerance to corruption.
Mr Lungu said the ministry would continue to give support to both the centre and the regions by ensuring that sufficient and appropriate staff are recruited and deployed.
He said to this effect, the ministry is pursuing treasury authority to employ revenue collectors.
The controlling officer said so far about 51 wildlife police officers are performing duties of revenue collection instead of policing duties.
He said the Ministry, in its 2021 fiscal plan, states that it will embark on capacity- building in councils that will host some devolved functions.
Mr. Lungu said a lot is expected from human resources practitioners in the ministry.
“It is for this reason, therefore, that I urge officers from public service management division, national health insurance management authority and the team from the ministry headquarters to ensure that the workshop delivers on its objectives,” he said.
