Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sport has purchased 50 fuel tankers to empower youths who want to venture into the fuel sub sector as part of the ongoing youth empowerment programs.
The Minister of Youth and Sport, Emmanuel Mulenga said government wants to ensure that young people are empowered with viable and reliable projects that will benefit them and the country as a whole.
Mr Mulenga has urged youths to come up with ideal business proposals for them to be considered for the empowerment program under his ministry.
Speaking when he met youths from Kansenshi ward in Ndola Central constituency, Mr Mulenga stated that President Edgar Lungu has prioritized working with young people hence the introduction of the youth empowerment programme.
Mr Mulenga added that the 4-hundred and 70 million kwacha youth empowerment fund the Head of State authorized in 2019 is aimed at helping young people to be self-sustaining.
He said President Lungu wants young people to take up the mantle to preside over the affairs of the nation.
The Minister also urged youths to play their part in changing the economic landscape of the country by ensuring that they access the youth empowerment funds and use them prudently.
Mr Mulenga who is also Ndola Central Member of Parliament added that one-hundred 4 youth groups that had challenges to access youth empowerment funds have been assisted as they will be accessing the funds before the end of next week.
