Chingola Member of Parliament Matthew Nkhuwa has handed over a market shelter at Mimbula market to the marketeers.
And he instantly empowered the marketeers with K20, 000 cash as working capital which will work as revolving fund.
Mr Nkhuwa said his desire is to shelter all marketeers trading along the roads.
He said the shelter helps in accounting for the marketeers at particular market making it easier for government to help them.
Mr Nkhuwa who is also Energy Minister said the Mimbula market shelter which has been built under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) will accommodate a good number of marketeers in Mimbula.
He said during his campaigns in 2016, he promised the marketeers that he will build them a shelter so that they can trade in conducive environment and that promise had come to pass.
Speaking earlier, Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo said Chingola has been transformed under the Patriotic Front regime.
Mr Tembo said President Edgar Lungu had spearheaded road construction making Chingola among the few districts that have meaningfully benefited from the national cake.
He said Mr Nkhuwa too has spearheaded several infrastructure projects ranging from classroom blocks, health and police posts and ablution blocks to market shelters.
He said nearly each month; Mr Nkhuwa has been commissioning projects with many still pending commissioning.
And Mimbula Ward Councillor Kennedy Simpasa said the construction of a market shelter makes him a happy civic leader.
