Prison Leopards coach Mwenya Chipepo has ditched the Kabwe outfit to take over the mantle at another Super Division side Indeni.
Chipepo leaves Prison on fifth position with 26 points, five behind leaders Zesco United.
His engagement comes barely a month after Indeni fired Dabid Chilufya following his comments in the aftermath of the 2-all draw with Forest Rangers.
Chiluya’s post-match comments after Indeni squandered a 2-goal lead to settle for a 2-all draw with Forest angered the executive who reacted swiftly by firing him 72 hours later.
Indeni secretary Andrew Cholwe confirmed the appointment of Chipepo in an interview yesterday that the former Power Dynamos assistant coach has penned a one-year contract at the club.
“Mr Chipepo is our new head coach and he will be on the bench against Zanaco tomorrow. He is a service man so he is just on leave at Zambia Correctional Services,” he said.
Indeni will welcome Zanaco at Indeni Sports Complex.
Cholwe said Indeni shortlisted and interviewed so coaches for the vacant position at the club and Chipepo emerged successful.
Chipepo will be assisted by the same personnel that worked with Chilufya in Chanda Mwape, Steven Tembo, Allan Chibwe and goalkeeper trainer Kalunga Mpunga.
‘Oilmen’ Indeni are perched 14 th on the log with 18 points.
The former Roan United midfielder guided Prison back to the topflight last season from National Division One.
This is the first time Chipepo will be taking charge of a Ndola based side despite him being a Ndola resident.
Chipepo was commuting to Kitwe from Ndola when he was Young Power and later assistant for the main team.
Meanwhile, Zanaco will take over the leadership of the log if they beat Indeni tomorrow.
with leaders Zesco and third-placed Forest out of action, Zanaco will move to 32 points if they overcome Indeni in a Week 18 encounter.
Zesco were scheduled to face Napsa Stars while Forest were due to face Nkana but the matches have been postponed as Napsa and Nkana are engaged in CAF Confederation Cup assignments this weekend.
Napsa will host Kenyan giants Gor Mahia while Nkana are in Morocco to take on TAS Casablanca.
