FAZ National Division One side Nchanga Rangers two weeks ago appointed Israel Mwanza as head coach in their quest to push for promotion back to the FAZ Super Division.
Mwanza replaced veteran coach Bruce Mwape who was sidelined by club management.
The former Nchanga and Chipolopolo defender has since been in charge of two games in which he has managed a win and a loss.
It is the manner in which Nchanga lost at the weekend against lowly placed FC Muza that has raised eyebrows over the team’s chase for promotion.
Nchanga succumbed to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of MUZA who were 12 points behind prior to this week 17 match played at Khosa Stadium in Kafue.
Brave are now sixth on the table with 27 points and 13th placed Muza have 18 points.
Over the year’s football has demonstrated that changing of coaches does not always change results.
What is clear is that Nchanga players need to be more consistent in order to be real contenders for promotion to the top league.
Just in the last six matches Nchanga have recorded mixed results that include two wins, two draws and two losses.
Even with the presence of the most highly qualified coach if players do not play their part of implementing tactics from the change room onto the pitch results cannot change.
Nchanga players must show character and the zeal to win on and off the pitch.
Is Israel Mwanza the Nchanga Rangers Messiah?
Players are the best “Messiahs” for Nchanga.
The club executive too must play its part of ensuring that players are well motivated.
