Nakachinda happy with Mulonga infrastructure progression

Water Development and Sanitation Minister Raphael Nakachinda has commended Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation for the progress made in it infrastructure rehabilitation project under the Zambia water Sanitation project.

Mr Nakachinda said the works done toward the project are impressive and are moving at good pace.

Speaking after touring the rehabilitation works in Chililabombwe and Chingola, the Minister also commended Mulonga for the extension of commercial boreholes.

Mr Nakachinda said that clean and safe drinking water is key component especially in the time of Covid-19.

He said that Government has prioritized water projects by ensuring that they are implemented in all the provinces.

Mr NaKachinda said that Government is aware of the challenges that water utilities are facing hence it’s support to the water firms.

He said that there is need for water utilities to conduct civic education to the people on vandalism to curb it as it is one of the drawback challenges.

“People should value and appreciate what is on the ground and look after the infrastructure development as it is meant to benefit and improve their livelihood,” he said.

And MWSC Managing Director Rueben Kaira said the project in Chililabombwe is at 70 per cent and in Chingola the project is at 50 percent.

Mr Kaira said the company is working hard to ensure that the project is implemented despite the delayment on the disbursement of funds from the funders.
