Kashimoto defends vanquished Chipolopolo

By Mulenga Mukuka
Zambia and Mufulira Wanderers legend Fredrick Kashimoto has asked soccer fans to be patient with Chipolopolo.

Scores of fans have taken to social media to criticize the National Team for exiting the Cameroon 2021 CHAN tournament at the quarterfinal stage.

Morocco ejected Zambia from the CHAN after inflicting an emphatic 3-1 loss on coach Micho’s side.

Kashimoto, who is also a veteran coach, said Zambia’s display in Cameroon was not bad.

Zambia recorded one win, two draws and a defeat at the continental championship exclusively for local players.

“Fans should take it easy with the National Soccer Team. The team did its best at the CHAN,” Kashimoto said by phone from Mufulira.

“Fans should ask themselves what is their contribution to the National Soccer Team. Is it just to criticize the National Team?”

Kashimoto the former Mufulira Wanderers and National Women’s Team coach said Chipolopolo should build on their performance at CHAN.

“Let the coach continue working with those players. We can even add more players for future assignments,” Kashimoto added.
