Chipolopolo have been eliminated from the 2021 CHAN following a 3-1 loss to Morocco in the quarterfinal match played in Douala, Cameroon on Sunday evening.
The North Africans scored early goals to take a 3-0 lead into the half time break.
Sofiane Rahimi put Morocco in front in the opening minute from what appeared to be an offside position but VAR confirmed the goal.
The lead was doubled five minutes later when Mohamed Bememmer beat Zambian keeper Allan Chibwe before Ayoub Kaabi scored Morocco’s final goal from a penalty.
Earlier in the 23rd minute Chipolopolo were reduced to 10 men when defender Zacharia Chilongoshi was shown a straight red card for a crude foul on Ali.
Zambia’s consolation goal was scored by striker Moses Phiri four minutes away from full time.
Chipolopolo were attempting to reach the CHAN semifinals for the first time since the inaugural competition in 2009.
