Catholics shut 9 parishes on the Copperbelt

Nine Parishes on the Copperbelt among them four from Ndola have been closed after recording cases of Coronavirus.

Zambia has in recent weeks recorded a number of Covid-19 cases which has resulted in deaths.

Renowned Priest Father Chilinda of St Ignatius Parish in Lusaka is among the notable victim that has succumbed to death after testing positive.

Catholic Diocese of Ndola announced the closure of the Parishes on its Facebook page and urged the public to strictly follow health regulations.

“Kindly take note that the following parishes have been closed due to cases of COVID 19 reported at these parishes. You are hereby advised to follow strictly health regulations, “read the statement.

The parishes that have been shut in Ndola are St Peter, St Elizabeth and St Antonio Fasani of Mushili,Nkwazi and Pamodzi Township respectively

St Anthony of Padua which is based at Franciscan Center is the other Parish that has been closed.

The rest are Mufulira’ St Francis and Clare,St Lawrence and St Patricks which is however currently opened.

Others are St Theresa-Ibenga in Luanshya and Sacred Heart in Kitwe.
