Mulonga’s rehabilitation works progressing

BY IREEN MULENGA
Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company Acting Public Relations Manager Bright Mtonga says the ongoing rehabilitation works are progressing on well.

Speaking to The Independent Observer in an interview he said the developmental projects which are being implemented in the three districts of Chingola, Chililabombwe and Mufulira respectively is delayed due to covid-19.

Mr Mtonga said the delay is because most of the materials are imported from South Africa.

He also said the utility firm is waiting for one contract to be signed this month for them to complete the project.

Mr Mtonga said the project that involves €156 million is aimed at improving water supply and sanitation in the districts of operation.

He said the project will also ensure that people have access to clean safe drinking water.

“The expanded services will improve the quality of water and it will be less dependent on the low water supply that comes from the mining industry.

“The project which has been running since 2013 is likely to complete in 2023,” he said.
