IBA advises broadcasting stations against callers personal Info

The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has advised broadcasting stations against requesting their callers to reveal personal information live on air in promotional campaign programmes.

IBA Director  General Josephine Mapoma  said revelation of such of the National registration card number Names, mobile number in part of in full poses a security risk to them.

Ms Mapoma said the Authority has issued the directive following consultations with the Bank of Zambia and directs broadcasting stations to obtain such details from their listeners or viewers, off air.

She said it is important to note that the disclosure of such detailed personal information on air may provide a ripe environment for fraudsters to perpetuate fraud.
