Solwezi Municipal Council has completed the rehabilitated of the Mutanda – Kivuku Bridge at a total cost of K63, 473.00.

Solwezi Town Clerk Bornwell Luanga said the Rehabilitation work was done using local resources to ensure accessibility in the area.

Mr Luanga said the scope of works encompassed building a third pillar and increasing the heights of the existing pillars using bricks and pieces of stone stuck together with cement.

He said the bridge surface was then created using logs.

Mr Luanga said prior to rehabilitation of the bridge, locals had difficulties in crossing to the other side as the bridge was in a deplorable state due to heavy rains.

He said the works have been successfully completed within duration of 4 months from August to December, 2020.

“Community members were engaged in the rehabilitation process to ensure ownership while creating jobs for the locals,” he said.
