Kamenza marketeers in Chililabombwe empowered

By ALICE NACHILEMBE

Mumba ward Councillor and currently Deputy Mayor for Chililabombwe, Gift Vinkhumbo has donated boxes of tomatoes to the marketeers at Kamenza green Market.

Mr Vinkumbo said this is a top up to the already existing businesses they are doing.

The area Councillor said he will only empower marketeers who are found in the markets.

Mr Vinkumbo said the marketeers in the market contribute to the economy of the country through contributions they make to the local authority.

He urged those trading in the streets while many tables in the markets are empty, to follow suit and fill the tables.

Mr Vinkumbo has warned marketeers who are fond of mocking and chasing those that come to join them in the markets from the streets that they risk being replaced if found wanting.

He also urged the marketeers to desist from allowing political opportunists to poison their minds.

“Markets and its traders are business places and should be affiliated to the government of the day as politics in markets will bring confusion,” he said.

Speaking at the same event Mwape Chiwala who initiated the programme of empowering the marketers, said women are key to the development of every community and the nation at large.

Mr Chiwala said more tomato boxes will be brought to the market through the area councilor.
