Four people have died on the spot while five others were left injured when the vehicle they were in careed off the road and overturned in Mazabuka.
The accident happened when Martin Simuyandi failed to control a Toyota Noah ALZ 8664 due to excessive speed, in the process he lost control and careered off to the road and over turned.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo confirmed the accident to The Independent Observer.
Ms Katongo said Simuyandi 28, of Messanger area in Mazabuka was among the four that were injured.
She said the accident happened today December 31, 2020 at 10:30 hours on Monze-Mazabuka Road at Kuyuni settlement .
She identied those that died as Mr Moono Muleya 23, of Mazabuka, Nicolas Muleya 47, of Manungu Compound in Monze, Ms Kalinda Hahuluma 16, of Livingstone and an unidentified female passenger.
She said one woman 17, of Mushi flats in Livingstone and the driver sustained serious injuries while three other passengers were treated as out patients.
“We appeal to motorists to drive with caution whilst on the road especially during this period of festivities,” she said.
