Is it betrayal? Zambian Breweries backs RTSA road safety drive

By JOHN SAKALA
Zambian Breweries has put its support behind the Road and Transport Safety Agency’s festive seasonal road safety campaign.

As New Year approaches, excitement from the public intensifies and sometimes leads to poor decision-making on the roads.

Zambian Breweries and RTSA have partnered to enforce road traffic awareness by reminding people not to drink alcohol and drive as they celebrate and enjoy the festivities.

RTSA is dedicated to heightened road safety advocacy and traffic law enforcement in the country and complements Zambian Breweries’ Responsible Together campaign, which aims at creating awareness on don’t drink and drive.

Zambian Breweries Country Director Jose Moran said: “Zambian Breweries expresses admiration for everything RTSA is doing towards road safety. Thank you to RTSA, our collaborating partner, for inviting us to be part of this campaign. We have been working together in the past and we have continued working together to enforce driving responsibly.

“We are thankful to our consumers for buying and enjoying our products, but we need to drink in moderation, be responsible and not drink and drive,” he said.

Mr Moran also stressed: “It’s against the law to drink alcohol and drive, and secondly, we are looking at your safety as a driver but also safety of the public community.

“If you drink, you cannot drive”.

The drink drive message is part of Zambian Breweries’ wider smart drinking campaign, which it has stepped up during the COVID-19 outbreak to encourage people to take a ResponsibleTogether pledge.
