Mpezeni ask voters to scrutinize politians

Pramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people has asked Zambians to scrutinise politicians availing themselves for national leadership ahead of the 2021 general election.

Chief Mpezeni said people must be cautious and choose wisely who should lead the nation.

Speaking last evening in Serenje District at the launch of the Movement for Voter Sensitisation-MVS- Central province chapter, the traditional leader encouraged Zambians to register in numbers before the voter registration exercise comes to an end on Sunday

And speaking on behalf of Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba people, senior Chief Chikwanda said the power of the vote can bring about development.

He also encouraged traditional leaders to use their own resources to mobilize their subjects to register as voters.

At the same occasion Senior Chief Kanongesha of the Lunda people said elections in the country should not cause divisions among citizens.

And speaking on behalf of Central province chiefs, Chief Shaibila said traditional leaders in the region have committed themselves to ensuring that more people are captured under the extended voter registration exercise.

Meanwhile, Central Province Minister Sydney Mushanga said the launch of MVS comes at a time when Zambia is grappling with issues of voter apathy in both rural and urban areas.

Mr Mushanga appealed to Zambains to support the efforts of MVS in its efforts to ensure more people register and vote in next year’s general election.
