Let FAZ upgrade qualifications of our coaches-Tembo

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Chingola based football Administrator Ackson Tembo says football has improved in the country but lacks skilled trained coaches to nature the players.

Tembo who was once Secretary and Chairperson for Nchanga Rangers said the coaches are the teachers who train players to play quality football.

He said for the country to compete competently at continental level the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) need to make initiatives of training the coaches.

Tembo said Zambia has only two coaches with high qualifications CAF license B and the rest have license C and D.

“We need to upgrade the skill for our coaches. They have the potential to take the country forward but are lacking in terms of the skills development, because what is happening now is that the coaches are just being recycled.  At least let’s have 20 coaches with license B and 20 with license A then we are going to have better quality on the pitch, “he said.

He said FAZ should use their offices and lobby some funds from FIFA who have the facilities and money to develop the skills of the coaches

Tembo said FAZ have signed an agreement with Croatian Football Association for coach exchange program but they are not utilizing the offer.

He also said clubs in the super league must establish sisterhood with clubs in Europe to have coach exchange programs and also attachment to improve the skills.

Tembo has called upon FAZ and other stakeholder to help upgrade the skills of coaches by sponsoring them even for short training courses for two week.

He also urged FAZ to ensure that football does not suffer because of some football politics.

Only Kalusha Bwaya and Honour Janza are Zambian coaches with CAF Licence B.
