Chililabombwe Municipal Council has engaged season workers to work on drainages and grass cutting to minimize seasonal disease such as malaria.

Chililabombwe Deputy Mayor Gift Musukwa said the drainages are a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Mr Musukwa said the workers are temporary employed for four months to ensure that the drainages are not blocked

He has urged residents not to throw in drainages as the local Authority is also trying to clean up and maintain them.

Mr Musukwa said the other people that are delaying the works are those doing their merchandise on the drainages in market areas in Kasumbalesa and Lubengele.

He said it becoming difficult for the local authority to do a good job because of the sabotage by other people.

The DM has also appeared to Mulonga water who is putting up new pipes to expedite their works as the ditches they are digging are burying the drainages.
