The Central Bank has approved K6.4 billion to be disbursed to commercial Banks and non-financial institutions under the 10 Kwacha medium term refinancing facility.
Bankers Association of Zambia -BAZ- Public Relations Manager Mirriam ZImba says five billion kwacha represents 10 approvals from commercial banks while 12 approvals amounting to 1.4 billion kwacha are from non-banking financial institutions.
Ms Zimba however says over 1.3 billion Kwacha has so far has been disbursed to both commercial banks and non-banking financial institutions with 29 thousand customers benefiting.
She further said the banks will continue to engage the Central bank to work on ways to increase coverage of customers to benefit from the facility.
Ms Zimba has urged citizens and the business community to apply for the fund.
