Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation Company has signed a €40 million euros contract with China Henan international to do the rehabilitation and the upgrading of the water treatment plants and sewer treatment plants.
MWSC Board Chairperson Emmanuel Sandi said that the project provides a major facelift for the company and better facilities to the people which will stand a test of time
Mr Sand said the company has labored enough to reach this stage to ensure that the people have better sewer networks and clean water.
He said the water utility is confident that the contract will be completed in good time with no short comings.
“The Government has supported the coming on board of the contractor China Henan hence the expectations to yield excellent works according to the expectations of the stakeholders,” he said.
And Director Rueben Kaira said the project will increase production of water because all the eight treatment plants in Chingola, Chililabombwe and Mufulira will be rehabilitated and upgraded
Mr Kaira said that after the completion the water challenges will be the thing of the past and the water color will improve.
China Henan Chief Representative Zhou Xiaozhan said that it was a great opportunity to design and rehabilitate the water and sewer facilities in the three towns of Chililabombwe, Chingola and Mufulira.
Mr Xiaozhan said the project which will run for 42 months is expected to starting next month.
He said the company will ensure to deliver quality works within the budget and the expected period of time.
Mr said there have witnessed and participated in the development of Zambia for the past 20 years and will continue contributing to the people of Zambia.
