The Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) Chairperson Amos Musonda has applauded Solwezi Municipal Council Town Clerk Bornwell Luanga for his outstanding leadership skills.
Speaking when he had a meeting with Solwezi Municipal Council Management at the Civic Centre, Mr Musonda acknowledged that through the leadership of Eng Luanga, four Directors from Solwezi Council have this year been promoted to the position of Council Secretary and are performing extremely well.
He encouraged the current Directors at the Council not to relent in tapping into the wisdom of the seasoned Principal Officer.
“Lean on the leadership of Eng Luanga, remain disciplined and focused as rewards follow those that position themselves well and are patient,” he said.
Mr Musonda also urged the Directors to be ambitious but was quick to state that it is wrong to lobby for promotions.
The happy Commission Chairperson rated Solwezi Municipal Council at 90% in service delivery saying that it is the only Local Authority that has been able to upgrade roads to climate resilient standard using local resources.
He further commended the Local Authority for being up to date with payment of salaries indicating that it is not an easy undertaking as priorities sometimes may be misplaced thereby punishing innocent employees.
He however indicated that he is convinced that service provision is easy when workers are motivated.
Mr Musonda was updated by the Town Clerk on, among other issues, the General meetings that Management has with the general workforce to discuss various matters pertaining to service delivery in the district.
In response, the Commission Chairperson expressed happiness at the industrial harmony exhibited by Solwezi Council indicating that such meetings are a platform for team building.
Mr Musonda was in Solwezi for a series of meetings with Principal Officers in North Western Province, Solwezi Municipal Council Management and Zambia United Local Authorities Workers Union (ZULAWU) Solwezi Branch Executive.
He was grateful to the Town Clerk for hosting his entourage and Principal Officers from all districts in the Province.
