55 pupils arrested in Mansa for exam leakage

Police in Mansa rounded up a group of 55 suspected students who were found at Success Tuition Center in Zambia Compound within Mansa District revising a 2018 GCE grade 12 Mathematics paper two. This happened on 31st July, 2018 after receiving information from a concerned member of the public.

After a search, it was discovered that most of them had mathematics paper questions on their cell phones and also had two hard cover exercise books which contained the same questions and was confirmed on 1st August, 2018 that the mathematics questions which the students were revising were the ones in the actual examination paper.

Forty eight (48) students comprising 36 females and twelve males were then charged with the offence of unauthorized possession of examination material or information contrary to section 19(1) chapter 137 of the Laws of Zambia and will appear before court soon. Investigations to establish the source have continued.

In a related development, Police in Mongu of Western Province have arrested seven (07) pupils among them six (06) female and one male who were found in possession of mathematics examination paper two of 2018. This occurred on 1st August, 2018 at about 10 00 hours at Kambule Secondary School in Mongu District.

The suspects have been charged with unauthorized possession of examination material or information contrary to section 19(1) chapter 137 of the Laws of Zambia and will appear before court soon.

We wish to remind the general public that unlawful possession of examination material is an offence and those found wanting will face the wrath of the Law.
