Lungu urges the public to register as voters

President Edgar Lungu has arrived in Chipata District of Eastern Province to a thunderous welcome.

Scores of people lined up the road leading to Paramount Chief Mpezeni’s palace to catch a glimpse of the Head of State.

President Lungu waved at the people as he walked to the palace.

And speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Paramount Chief Mpezeni, President Lungu urged chiefs to encourage their people to register as voters.

He said this is the only way that they will be able to elect the people that will work for them.

The President said he is in the province to check on infrastructure projects and meet various stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Paramount Chief Mpezeni said his people are happy with the construction of roads and hospitals in his chiefdom.

He said people are aware that government cannot do everything at once.

The traditional Leader said the people in Eastern Province have seen what President Lungu has done and will not listen to those who are giving false promises.

The Paramount Chief also called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- to ensure they register more people.
