Three teachers and one untrained Teacher at Chingola secondary School have been arrested for allegedly being found in possession of 2018 examination papers.
The trio was arrested for being in possession of examination answer booklet and one photocopy of General Certificate of Education (GCE) mathematics paper Two without authority.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanaga confirmed the arrest and detention of the three Teachers of Chingola Secondary School to The Independent Observer.
Ms Katanga said the suspects were found at Chingola Secondary School in the sports room around 08:30 hours with the exam papers on August 1, 2018.
She identified the suspects as George Mandalazi 36, of House Number 11 Luangwa Street in Nchanga North, Christopher Siulapwa 36, 6 Luangwa Street Chikola B.
Others are Paul Nambo 34, of 3B Kabundi Extension, Sambilila Road and one untrained Teacher Patrick Chama 26, of house Number 18 Lundi Street, Nchanga North all of Chingola and Teachers at Chingola Secondary School.
“The quartet was arrested after a tip off from the school Administration that three Teachers and one untrained Teacher were in possession of the examination materials without authority according to Education Act.
“The suspects were found in possession of four mathematics Answer Booklets and 1 photocopy question paper (paper 2) for mathematics, GCE, EXAMS for 2018 ordinary level. The same suspects are not candidates in this exams. We have since being detained them in police custody to assist with investigations,” she said.
When contacted for a comment Chingola District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Christopher Nyungila said he will give a compressive report after he meets with the Examination Council of Zambia officers who are visiting his district.
