Konkola Copper Mines has donated assorted items to Chingola Municipal Council to equip the local authority in case of an outbreak of water borne diseases.
Chingola Municipal had written to KCM for assistance for cholera preventative materials to chlorinate shallow wells and disinfecting pit latrines in the district.
This was the donation the mining firm was making among them the items donated were 45 kilograms of granular Chlorine, 20 pairs OVC gloves, 20 nose bags and two tons of lime.
KCM General Manager for Corporate Affairs Shapi Shachinda said the company responded to this noble because they also have a responsibility towards the development of the district.
Mr Shachinda said that most of the employee at KCM are residents of Chingola, hence the move to be part of the efforts being made by the Council in contributing to the cleanness of the Town.
He said KCM is on board to keep a disease free Chingola and he appealed to the residents to respond positively.
And receiving, Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo said that the local authority is preparing in advance for the rainy season which is a bleeding ground of water borne disease.
Mr Tembo said that donated materials will go a long way in providing a conducive environment to the resident’s during this period.
He thanked KCM and other stakeholders that have been giving a helping hand to the local authority during this period of corona virus.
