Chifunabuli Council Boss installed, told to remember the voters

By JOHN SAKALA
Innocent Kapwepwe has been installed as Chinabuli Council Chairperson.

Speaking during the installation, Luapula Minister Nickson Chilangwa told Mr Kapwepwe to remember the people that voted for him and meet their aspirations.

Mr Chilanga directed the newly elected Chairperson to immediately get down to work because Chifunabuli is new and needs commitment, hard work and dedication.

“I need all Councils in Luapula Province to make prudent use of the equalisation fund. Councils should not wait for the Central Government to do basic repairs on various infrastructure in the districts.

“And you Sir (Mr Kapwepwe) do not forget the people who have given you the mandate because their support will determine your re-election in 2021. To all Council Secretaries in Luapula, I need you to avail the copies of the Seventh National Development (7SDP) and the Republican Constitution to Councillors for them to read the two documents religiously,” he said.

Mr Kapwepwe was elected in the July 26, mayoral by-elections as the first Council Chairperson for Chifunabuli after it was created as a District by President Edgar Lungu.

Earlier this year in April President Lungu declared seven new districts to foster rural development and easy administration of the areas.

The declared districts are Chipangali, Lumezi, Kasenengwa, Chasefu, Msanzala, Chifunabuli and Lupososhi bringing the total of Zambian districts to 114.
