The anti-robbery squad of Lusaka have shot dead the suspected dangerous criminal who has been eluding police dragnet.
Wada Phiri, about 38 years old was shot dead yesterday in Livingstone around 18: 00 hrs.
Phiri together with others on the run shot at a Police Officer who was guarding Standard Chartered Industrial in Lusaka and staged a bank robbery where they got away with K1.5 million and USD $20, 000.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has confirmed the shooting incidence to The Independent Observer in an interview.
Ms Katongo said after bank robbery on July 27, last week, around 13:00 hrs, police were tipped that the same suspects had dashed to Livingstone.
She said after trailing the suspects, they found them in Livingstone where Phiri of Lusaka was shot dead and others escaped.
Ms Katongo said the body of Phiri was in Batoka Hospital mortuary while manhunt continues to bring the rest to book.
