Nkhuwa dreams with Dreamers

By JOHN SAKALA
Chingola Member of Parliament Matthew Nkhuwa has given Dreamers Women Club K2, 500 for them to buy an incubator for their progressive chicken rearing business.

On October 25, last year, Mr Nkhuwa had given chicken empowerment to several women clubs where he even provided chicken feed and vaccines but some businesses tumbled.

However, for Dreamers which was a group of 10 members kept on dreaming and pushing and their parliamentarian didn’t grow weary of providing feed.

This time they have over 400 different types of birds ranging from Guinea fowls, quails, turkeys, ducks and Kuroilers which are all at egg laying stage.

And due to increase in production of eggs, the rented incubators were restrictive and not viable.

Making it worse whenever they took the eggs for hatching, their kuroiler, turkey and guinea fowl eggs could be exchanged with ordinary chicken eggs.

They again didn’t feel shy to ask from Mr Nkhuwa for the top up for them to buy their own incubator.

The K2, 500 was delivered today October 9, 2020 by Rose, the wife to Mr Nkhuwa to the group.

Speaking after she delivered the money, Mrs Nkhuwa said Dreamers Women Club was keeping the dream of Mr Nkhuwa’s empowerment program alive.

She said at the moment, Dreamers Women Club is an empowerment model for women who had received chicken empowerment.

And Dreamers Women Club Chairperson Beauty Muchinga said the group which was initially for 10 members has grown to accommodate 19 more members (29).

Like in the ‘passing on the gift’ project, Dreamers are giving hatched chicks to other women clubs that are willing to empower themselves.

Ms Muchinga said apart from selling the birds, they are now selling eggs and chicks making them able to send their children to school.
