Malalo police goalie saves day for Malalo police

Malalo Police goalie Kasonde Kasonde was the toast of the tie at Lilayi Police College as he saved three spot-kicks to help his side defeat Livingstone Pirates 3-1 in Group A of the on-going FAZ/Eden University play-offs.
The two sides drew 0-0 in regulation time forcing the game to be decided on spot-kicks as per agreed tournament regulations among the participating teams.
Pirates who had looked the better of the two sides during the match came short during spot kicks with Chibesa Changwe, Poniso Liseli and Davison Mwila having their efforts saved while Joseph Mweemba tucked away his.
Malalo Police had no such worries as they easily dispatched their efforts through Chewe Mpinga, Paul Chitonge and Justin Malunga.
It was however Kasonde, popularly known as Dida who stole the show with his heroics between the sticks that made his colleagues carry him shoulder high at the signal of the final whistle.
Ten provincial champions have been divided into two groups with the two top teams qualifying to the FAZ/Eden University National Division One. Games are being played on a round-robin format.
