NAQEZ backs sexuality education for Schools, EFZ Call for withdrawal

The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia has supported the teaching of sexuality education in schools.

The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia called on the Ministry of General Education to withdraw Comprehensive Sexuality Education from the school curriculum.

But NAQEZ Executive Director, Aaron Chansa in a press statement issued today has demanded that the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia should state specifically which areas of Sexuality education are injuring Christianity in order for educational stakeholders to make necessary amends.

Mr Chansa observes that the introduced comprehensive Sexuality Education framework are important educational tools for the 21st century learners.

“After careful analysis of the Comprehensive Sexuality Education framework and teaching manuals ,we find this kind of education very useful and Important for 21st century pupils. We can’t see anything anti- Christian in these two documents. For the record, this kind of education was prompted by extensive research data indicating alarming numbers of school drop outs due to early pregnancies among primary and secondary School girls. It is also important to state here that before the Ministry of Education adopted the framework for sexuality education, the Church and Civil Society Organizations were part of the validation process” Chansa said.

He said that the current framework on sexuality education in Zambia provides learners with age appropriate and scientifically accurate information.
