10, 160 NRCs issued in Chingola-DC

Ten thousand, one hundred and sixty (10, 160) National Registration cards have been iasued in Chingola.

This is in an ongoing mobile NRC registration that will end on September 10, 2020.

A total number of 7, 068 new cards have been issued while 3, 092 were replacements.

Chingola District Commissioner Agnes Tonga said the excise has received an overwhelming response from the community around the district.

Ms Tonga said that the district has divided the people conducting the exercise into four teams so that the district can capture as many people as possible.

She said the district will capture everyone that has come to be registered even after the exercise is done.

She has urged parents to ensure that children obtain NRCs at the right age.

“An NRC is an important document of identity to every Zambian who has attained 16 years. It is an identification for someone to get access to other avenues like college, work and other things.

“People should not wait to get too old to be captured or rush when there are elections but they should visit NRC offices at the appropriate years. NRC is a right for every Zambian and people should get NRCs so that they can even excise their voting rights during elections as without the NRC you can not vote,” she said.
