Chambishi to have a new bus shelter

By Lidah Kamanga
Zambia-China Economic and Trade Corporation Zone (ZCCZ) has set out to construct a bus shelter and an ablution block at Sabina junction in Chambishi Township in Kalulushi District.

This follows a Council resolution for ZCCZ to construct a bus shelter and an ablution block as a trade-off for the property rates arrears; among other requirements.

ZCCZ Corporate Affairs Manager Steven Lindunda says the project cost has been estimated in the range of K600, 000 to K700, 000.

He said this yesterday, during the handover of the construction site by Kalulushi Mayor Rashida Mulenga and Town Clerk Davies Bwalya.

Mr Lindunda said that ZCCZ is ready to start the works following the construction site hand over by the Local Authority and the company intends to complete the project before the rain season commences.

Speaking at the same event Ms Mulenga expressed gratitude to a private individual who offered the parcel of land where the bus shelter and ablution block will be constructed.
The Mayor was also elated that the bus shelter will not only provide shelter but a decent ablution block for the commuters and address the requests from the residents for a bus shelter in the area.

After the handover of the site, the Mayor and Town Clerk also toured Chambishi tennis court which is currently under rehabilitation by Chambishi Copper Smelters as a Corporate Social Responsibility and they also visited Chambishi market to inspect the works being undertaken at the shelter in order to give it a facelift.
