I write to applaud Chingola Municipal Council for listening to the calls of residents to install traffic ights at the junction of Kabundi road and Consort-Independence avenues near the Civic Centre.
The installation of the traffic lights at this junction could not have come at the right time than now when the junction had become a death trap in the recent past because of failure by most road users to know who has the right of way at any given time.
In this regard, I commend Chingola Council under the hierarchy of Mayor Titus Tembo and the administration of Town Clerk Kabombo Mutakela for moving fast to address the situation.
Moving forward, I also appeal to the Council to address the situation at Mokorro where the traffic lights are most times not functioning creating a safety hazard.
To all Chingola residents, I urge everyone to guard these installations jealously as they are installed at a higher cost and doing the same works over and over because of vandalism would be retrogressive to not only the treasury but the residents at large.
