Director of Public Prosecutions, Lillian Siyuni has called for more public sensitisations on the operations of the National Prosecution Authority -NPA.
Ms. Siyuni says this will help the public to appreciate the role of the body in the delivery of justice.
Ms. Siyuni was speaking when she led a delegation of NPA board members in paying a courtesy call on Luapula Province Acting Permanent Secretary Royd Chakaba.
She explained that following the devolution of NPA functions to almost all the districts in the country, citizens should be educated not to treat public prosecutors as investigators.
The DPP who has been on a tour of Luapula Province has since appealed to the Provincial Administration to invite her staff to participate in gatherings that will help with sensitisations.
And Ms. Siyuni revealed that the NPA board is in the process of acquiring land to build offices in all the districts to house its staff.
Meanwhile, Mr. Chakaba said the devolution of the functions of the NPA to Luapula Province has seen a lot of pending court cases being disposed of within a short period of time. ZANIS
