Acting Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale says it is illegal for traffic police officers to ambush motorists.
In a statement, Mr Mwale said traffic police officers are not allowed to hide at nearby bush and suddenly jump on the road to stop over speeding motorists.
Journalists complained that the hiding and suddenly surfacing up by traffic police officers to monitor over speeding motorists is bad practice.
“It is not a standard practice. The officers should be visible. That is one of the reasons they are given reflective garments so that they are seen,” said Mr Mwale.
In Chingola traffic officers like hiding and popping up suddenly at Kapele road near Spax house on Kitwe road.
