Diego Maradona has been stripped of his FIFA ambassadorial role after his “embarrassing and provocative behaviour” during Nigeria/Argentina match on Tuesday night.
The Argentine football legend was shown on television pointing his middle finger at Nigerian soccer fans while celebrating Argentina’s winning goal scored by Marcos Rojo.
Consequently, Maradona will no longer be a paid FIFA ambassador.
The former Argentina great was being paid £10,000 by the governing body for “bringing the spotlight” to any World Cup match he was at.
