Chingola Mayor donates face masks

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo has donated 580 homemade face masks to medical stuff at Nchanga North General hospital, Chawama and Chiwempala Clinics.

Mr Tembo said that the donation was one way of promoting the wearing of masks and encouraging health workers in the fight against Covid-19.

He said that health workers should be saluted because they are more exposed than anyone else.

The Mayor said that the fight against the virus calls for behavioral change among individuals to comply with the measures.

Mr Tembo was speaking when he donated masks at Nchanga North General Hospital, Chiwempala and Chawama clinics.

He said that the people in the district seem to be complying with the masking up which is a good thing.

“Going forward we want to continue to see the compliance levels going up so that we can prevent the virus,” he said.

And Nchanga North General Hospital Medical Superintendent Peter Phiri said the donation was timely as front-liners need to be protected.

Dr Phiri said that the institution is on high alert and has up some measures in place with the rapid response team.
