Man run down by a train

An unidentified man has died after he was run over by a goods train in Choma.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said involved was a goods train engine number 627, driven by Godwin Moonga 62 of Turnpike in Kafue from North to Southern direction which hit an unknown man who died on the spot.

Ms Katongo said an unknown man between 35 and 45 years died after he was run over by a goods train in Choma.

She said this happened yesterday 19th April, 2020 at 05:20 hours along the Lusaka – Livingstone railway line near Namwala junction in Choma.

Ms Katongo said Police visited the scene and found the body of the deceased cut into two pieces around his waist.

She said  the body is in Choma General Hospital mortuary awaiting identification.

“Preliminary investigations have revealed that the deceased was seen at a short distance crawling from the bush onto the railway line,” she said.
