Authorities at Kasumbalesa border post are clearing at least 750 trucks per day, in an effort to clear a backlog of trucks marooned at the border as measures heighten against the Coronavirus.
The trucks had stretched over hundred Kilometres from the border point a fortnight ago due to strict interventions due to Covid-19 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Copperbelt Minister Japhen Mwakalombe, who visited the border post is happy that so many trucks are being cleared in a day at the border post from the previous average of three hundred.
Later, the Minister checked on Covid-19 inspection facilities for the Congolese government operating on the Zambian side in view of escalating flow of traffic.
He later donated masks and sanitizers to staff manning Wilson Mofya Chakulya Toll plaza on the Kitwe Chingola road.
