Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH) has with immediate effect abolished visiting hours and the use of care givers commonly known as bedsiders in a bid to curb the spread of the Covid-19.
This is in line with measures that government has put in place to combat the virus.
Kitwe Teaching Hospital Public Relations Officer Phoebe Chileya disclosed to the Independent Observer in Kitwe that the abolishment of visiting hours is necessitated by the continued spread of COVID 19 and the directive issued by Health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya during his 24th update on the pandemic.
Ms Chileya said the move taken is one Management’s action measure put in place to combat the spread of the global pandemic which has claimed two lives in the country and more than 700 lives in Africa.
” Following the continued spread of COVID 19 and the directive issued by Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya during his 24th update on the pandemic, management at Kitwe Teaching Hospital wishes to inform members of the public that it has with immediate effect abolished visiting hours and the use of care givers known as bed siders.
This action is in line with measures that government has put in place to combat the global pandemic which has claimed lives in Africa and Zambia,” she said.
Ms Chileya has since advised members of the public not to visit the hospital premises unnecessarily as hospitals by nature are highly infectious places.
Meanwhile Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya disclosed during his daily update on the Corona virus that the country has not recorded any COVID-19 case in the last 24 hours out of the 43 tests conducted.
