President Edgar Lungu has officially commissioned Phase 1 of the Chipata District Hospital.
The construction of the Hospital has been constructed at a total cost of K10m.
Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya said the District Hospital is part of the Edgar Lungu led PF Government’s broad agenda to bring health services closer to the people.
Dr Chilufya said the 57 health posts allocated to Eastern Province from the 650 health posts being constructed nationwide, 44 have been completed and are fully operational.
He said the health facility will help to decongest Chipata General Hospital.
The Minister said it will also intensifying the fight against maternal mortality and diseases such as malaria and HIV.
Mr Chilufya said it will help achieve epidemic control of the two diseases by 2021.
