Lets fight Covid-19 collectively as a Nation-HH

United Party for National Development President Hakainde Hichilema says that Novel Coronavirus pandemic is a crisis that needs a timely and collective approach.

Mr Hichilema said the party shall set aside all political differences and work with the Government because the pandemic is a common threat that recognizes no political parties, status, color or boundary.

He said UPND has always been to critically look at issues affecting people’s lives and the environment and in this case hence determined to ensure that together defeat the deadly pandemic that strikes fast with no mercy.

“We shall during this period remain focused and contribute our support and resources towards the cause with a view to reducing the socioeconomic impact of the pandemic on the country and people’s lives.

Everyone in the country has a role to play starting from families, churches, institutions, political parties, Non-Governmental Organisations, Civil Society Organisations and business houses because the virus affects all,” he said.

Mr Hichileme has commend government for making all efforts possible despite meagre resources to ensure that communities are sensitized and practice measures that will reduce further spread of the virus.

He said the party will not lose it sense of responsibility nor shall it be distracted by selfish individuals but will instead join the rest of the world to ensure contributions and support all efforts made to protect the populations, jobs, health and our economy.

“As UPND we call upon the citizenry to co-operate and practice all measures provided so that together we break the transmission of the virus among the population,” he said.
