United Party for National Development (UPND) Nchanga constituency aspiring candidate Derricky Chilundika has called on the ministry of health to instruct Konkola Copper mines to suspend biometric clocking system when entering and exiting the mines during this period of Covid 19 outbreak.
Mr Chilundika said it is risky and dangerous to the human capital that is going into Konkola copper mines.
He said UPND is aware that the company does not have the capacity to get the hand sanitizers that can be used in their day to day running of business.
Mr Chilundika said the lives of miners are at risk because, the operations in the mines receives different people from other places like cross boarder drivers from different countries who transports goods and services on daily basis.
“We are also urging Konkola copper mines (KCM) to procure COVID 19 screening machines which should be placed on all entry and exit points as this is the only sure way the company will eliminate any possible spread of the deadly pandemic,” he said.
He has advising all KCM employees and Chingola community members to strictly follow all the health tips so that together we can fight this deadly COVID 19, commonly known as Coronavirus.
