Two Zambian Police Officers who died while serving in the United Nations (UN) peace keeping mission in Darfur Sudan have been honoured posthumously by UN.
The duo is Detective Chief Inspector Bright Sikalinda who died in a road accident in Zambia between Kapiri and Ndola when he was on leave in 2017.
The other is Sergeant Naomi Zulu who fell sick and died while service in the peace keeping mission the same year in Darfur.
Speaking when he received the two medals, Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja said the duo was dedicated team of officers.
The IG was speaking this when he received two UN medals on behalf of the duo.
The medals were presented to him by Brigadier General Erick Mwewa who is the military advisor under Zambian Permanent mission based in New York.
Mr Kanganja is attending the 2018 United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit at the UN Headquarters in New York, between to today June 20 and 23.
The (UNCOPS) Summit, is themed is “Strengthening United Nations Rule of Law support at the National level: partnership for peace and security.”
